紙測試 - 概觀
紙的拉伸能量吸收 (TEA) 是由應力 - 伸長量曲線下的面積所定義 ( 也就是能量 ) ，與夾持的紙表面積有關，此結果通常用來表示紙對於能量吸收能力的特性 ( 見 T494) ，然後使用微處理器或電腦來計算能量，大大的簡化數據。
紙與紙板的拉伸量對於品質來說是一個重要的量測，因為是紙張可以摺疊及使用在包裝上，瓦楞紙與衛生紙時抵抗應力集中的必要條件，我們建議一開始上夾具夾持試片之後，提供一個小應力來排除彎曲，然後拉伸試片直到在指定時間內破裂， T457 中有詳細說明。
對於產品像是紙巾與紙袋，在弄濕之後承受更大的壓力，許多製造商從手板評估捲筒紙拉伸特性，因此需要特殊的夾置具， T456 中有描述。
